MSME Sustainable (Zero Defect Zero Effect) Certification Scheme
Government initiative supporting Udyam-registered MSMEs in adopting Zero Defect Zero Effect practices for improved quality, productivity and environmental sustainability. Eligible enterprises can receive subsidies on Bronze, Silver and Gold ZED Certification, along with support for testing, consultancy and technology upgradation.
Who Can Apply?
Verified criteria and borrower eligibility guidelines set by the Government of India.
Udyam-Registered MSMEs
All eligible Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises registered on the Udyam Registration portal can participate in MSME Sustainable ZED Certification and avail applicable benefits.
Micro Enterprises
Eligible Micro Enterprises can receive an 80% subsidy on the applicable ZED certification cost.
Small Enterprises
Eligible Small Enterprises can receive a 60% subsidy on the applicable ZED certification cost.
Medium Enterprises
Eligible Medium Enterprises can receive a 50% subsidy on the applicable ZED certification cost.
Women-Owned MSMEs
Eligible women-owned MSMEs can receive 100% subsidy on the applicable ZED certification cost.
Special Category MSMEs
An additional 10% subsidy is available for eligible SC/ST-owned MSMEs and enterprises located in NER, Himalayan, LWE, Island territories and Aspirational Districts, subject to scheme conditions.

Three Certification Levels
The ZED journey is structured across Bronze, Silver and Gold certification levels, with progressively higher quality, productivity, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements.
Revised Certification Costs
Current certification costs are ₹8,000 for Bronze, ₹32,000 for Silver and ₹72,000 for Gold before applicable Government subsidies and incentives.
₹10,000 Joining Reward
Eligible MSMEs receive a joining reward of ₹10,000, which can effectively make Bronze Certification free when availed in accordance with scheme provisions.
Handholding up to ₹2 Lakh
ZED-certified MSMEs can receive financial assistance of up to ₹2 Lakh for approved consultancy and handholding support to improve systems and progress toward higher ZED levels.
Technology Support up to ₹3 Lakh
Financial support of up to ₹3 Lakh is available for eligible technology upgradation focused on Zero Effect solutions, pollution control and cleaner technologies.
Testing & Certification Support
Eligible MSMEs can receive up to 75% financial assistance for approved testing, system certification and product certification expenses, subject to a maximum subsidy of ₹50,000.

Application Process
Udyam Registration
Ensure that the enterprise has a valid Udyam Registration and meets the eligibility requirements for participation in the ZED Certification Scheme.
Register on ZED Portal
Register for MSME Sustainable ZED Certification using the enterprise's Udyam details and complete the required onboarding and ZED pledge process.
Select Certification Level
Choose the applicable Bronze, Silver or Gold certification level and submit the required information and evidence against the prescribed ZED assessment parameters.
Assessment
The enterprise undergoes assessment by an authorized assessment agency as prescribed under the ZED guidelines, including applicable onsite assessment requirements.
Certification & Incentives
On successful assessment, the MSME receives the applicable ZED Certification and can access eligible certification subsidy, handholding, testing and technology upgradation benefits.
